If you’re familiar with Grado headphones, you’ve probably noticed that the stock gimbals—those little plastic pieces connecting the ear cups to the headband—aren’t exactly the strongest part of the design. Whether you’re rocking an entry-level SR60x or a higher-end model like the RS2x or PS500e, the gimbals are essentially the same. While functional, they’re not particularly durable or stylish, and they can be prone to cracking or loosening over time.

That’s where Nyczaj gimbals come in. Designed to combine style, durability, and precision, these upgraded gimbals are a must-have for anyone looking to take their Grados to the next level.
Stock Grado Gimbals: Functional but Flawed
The stock gimbals on most Grado headphones are made of lightweight plastic. While they keep costs down and do the job, they come with some notable downsides:
Durability Issues: Over time, the plastic can crack or warp, especially with frequent adjustments or accidental drops.
Inconsistent Tension: Many users find that the stock gimbals don’t always hold their position well, leading to uneven or uncomfortable fitment.
Aesthetic Limitations: Let’s face it—plain black plastic doesn’t exactly scream premium, especially on higher-end models like the RS2x or PS500e.
It’s a bit of a letdown that headphones as remarkable as Grados don’t get a sturdier or more refined connection between their headband and ear cups. But luckily, that’s an issue you can easily fix.

Why Choose Nyczaj Gimbals?
Nyczaj gimbals are precision-engineered from CNC-machined aluminum, offering a significant upgrade in both form and function. Here’s why they’re worth considering for your next Grado mod:
Durability You Can Rely On:
Aluminum gimbals are far more robust than plastic. They’re built to handle years of wear and tear without losing their integrity. Whether you’re adjusting your headphones daily or taking them on the go, these gimbals are made to last.
Aesthetic Appeal:
The sleek, metallic finish of Nyczaj gimbals adds a touch of sophistication to your Grados. Available in a variety of finishes, they elevate the overall look of your headphones, making them feel as premium as they sound.
Precision Engineering:
Each pair of Nyczaj gimbals is CNC-machined to exacting tolerances. This process ensures a perfect fit and smooth movement, but it also takes time—part of what justifies their higher price. These aren’t mass-produced components; they’re carefully crafted upgrades designed specifically for Grado headphones.
Improved Fit and Functionality:
The tension on Nyczaj gimbals is consistent and secure, holding your headphones in the perfect position without slipping. They’re ideal for users who want a reliable fit without constant readjustments.

How to Replace Your Stock Gimbals
Replacing the stock gimbals on Grado headphones might seem intimidating at first, but it’s a straightforward process with the right tools and guidance. Here’s a quick overview:
Gather Your Tools:
You’ll need a 2mm hex key and a steady hand. If you’re upgrading to a Nyczaj headband at the same time, the process becomes much easier, as the gimbals and headband are sent pre-assembled.
Set of Nyczaj metal gimbals, 2mm allen key, set of spare screws and sliders, and a syringe with a thread locker glue Remove the Stock Gimbals:
Carefully detach the stock gimbals widening them slightly with your fingers and sliding them off the ear cups. Be gentle to avoid damaging the stock gimbals.
Gently pull the plastic gimbal outwards and slide it off the Grado cup Attach the Nyczaj Gimbals:
Align the new gimbals with the ear cups and secure them with the provided screws. Tighten them to your preference. Use the provided glue to lock the threads. The precise machining of Nyczaj gimbals ensures a perfect fit and has a lot of room for extra adjustments to personalize your experience.
Apply the thread locker glue onto the screw and screw them inside the cup holes Reattach the Headband:
If you’re using the original headband, slide it through the new rodblocks and secure them with as screw and the thread-locker glue. If you’re upgrading to a Nyczaj headband, the pre-assembled design saves you time and effort.
Align the holes in the spring steel rod and the rod block and tighten them together with the provided screw

The Perfect Pairing: Nyczaj Headbands and Gimbals

Plus, when purchased together, the gimbals and headband come pre-assembled, making the installation process seamless. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference.
